Jane G. Hendrix has been the Director of Dunwoody School for the Arts, associated with Dunwoody Baptist Church, for 15 years. In this capacity, she oversees a program of private music lessons, dance and Kindermusik classes which reaches approximately 300 students throughout the school year. She has also developed a very active summer camp program, with an enrollment of over 150 children each summer. Jane supervises 15 teachers and administers a budget account totaling $250,000. Jane is also an active educator – she personally teaches 8 Kindermusik classes, along with 23 voice students.
Along with her director’s duties, Jane coordinates the Children’s Choir program at Dunwoody Baptist Church, with an enrollment of 60 children. In this capacity, she works with volunteers to present 2 large musical programs each year.
Prior to her 1993 appointment as Director of DSA, Jane was an adjunct faculty member at DeKalb College (now Perimeter College) and Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In July 2001, Mrs. Hendrix was elected to serve as the Vice-President for Regional Development on the Kindermusik Educators Association Board. During her 4 years in this position, she set up over 30 local and state chapters in the United States and Canada. She also helped organize 4 Regional Workshops for 35-50 participants at each event. Jane was elected President of the Board in July 2005. She was instrumental in transitioning the association to become the Partnership of Kindermusik Educators where she served two more years as Chairman and Liaison. The transition has been an important component in raising the teaching standards of over 5,000 Kindermusik teachers worldwide.
